KALTIK Skate Junior Review: An Adjustable Skate Built for Young Riders
A Truly Adjustable Junior Skate
At first glance, the KALTIK Skate Junior looks like a scaled-down freeskate. And that's exactly the idea!
Its main advantage is its ability to adapt as the skater's foot grows, thanks to multiple adjustment positions. The skate can therefore cover several sizes without changing the position of the front of the boot.
Even when the size is adjusted, the front of the skate remains rigid and properly positioned, providing quick response and solid control during skating.
The design is clean and understated, with a mainly black finish and a few white details.
And for skaters who love customizing their setup, the KALTIK Junior also offers plenty of possibilities thanks to its compatibility with S-size UFS frames.
Lightweight, Comfortable and Supportive
For a junior aggressive skate, the weight is particularly impressive: the complete skate weighs approximately 1.1 kg.
The liner features dense foam padding, providing a combination of comfort and support.
An elastic adjustment system around the midfoot allows the liner to expand as the skate size changes without compromising the overall fit.
Even at the largest adjustment position, the skate remains comfortable and supportive.
A Soulplate Designed for the Skatepark
For aggressive skating and park sessions, grinding performance comes from KALTIK's freestyle frame design, already known for performing well across different types of obstacles.
The KALTIK Junior also features a lightweight soulplate, with a carefully balanced width and thickness.
Another clever detail is its symmetrical design. When one side of the soulplate becomes worn, the opposite skate can use the same design in the same way.
A simple idea, but a smart one for extending the life of the setup.
60mm, 90A and ABEC-9
For rolling performance, KALTIK equips the Junior with ABEC-9 bearings and 60mm 90A wheels featuring a rounded profile.
This setup offers a good balance of speed, maneuverability and control, giving young skaters plenty of performance for skatepark sessions.
What Changed Since 2020?
The concept continued to evolve.
Since 2020, KALTIK has also offered the Skate Junior in additional configurations, including a FLAT setup for freestyle skating and a Big Wheel 4x90mm setup.
This allows the skate to evolve along with the rider's skills and skating style.
Our Verdict
When it was launched in 2018, the KALTIK Skate Junior offered a smart solution to one of the biggest challenges in junior skating: finding a skate that can keep up with growing feet.
It combines low weight, durability, comfort and adjustability, while offering several setup possibilities and a performance level inspired by adult aggressive skates.
With its UFS compatibility and multiple configurations, it is an interesting option for young skaters looking to discover aggressive skating and progress without having to replace their skates every time they go up a size.
A clever concept built to last — and built to let young skaters push their limits!
